San Miguel Pure Foods Vietnam will pay nearly 110 million dong (over US$6000) to seven families for losses caused by the company’s broken wastewater reservoir.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of An Dien commune, Ben Cat district, Binh Duong province, where the incident occurred over one month ago, said that San Miguel had reached agreements with seven households on compensation last week.
The two sides signed documents on the compensation, totalling nearly 111 million dong, witnessed by An Dien commune’s officials, Thanh said. However, the seven households haven’t received the money yet.
According to Ben Cat district’s authorities, San Miguel’s representatives have been visiting every household directly to negotiate compensation.
