Located northwest of Quang Nam province, this area will cover an area more than 15.800ha forests and forest lands and common Bhalee Avuong Tay Giang District, and Kon Song and Talu District Dong Giang.
The goal is to make every effort to protect and preserve this rare and precious animal of Vietnam, its habitat and biological diversity of a country's priority areas in this field.
Cousin cattle but apparently close to the antelope, the sao was discovered in 1992 by a joint team from the Vietnamese Ministry of Forestry and the Global Fund for Nature (WWF) who studied the Vu Quang forest, to the border between Vietnam and Laos.
Since its discovery, Vietnam and Laos have created a network of protected areas in the central area of the habitat of this animal, and some reservations have adopted innovative approaches to fight against rampant poaching.
