Duc Pho District Chairman Le Van Mui (standing, white shirt) offered an apology to people.
On the morning of February 18, people in Van Ly village, Pho Phong commune, Duc Pho district blocked the Highway 24 because they could not sustain dust pollution anymore.
They said that they asked the road builders to water the construction site to reduce dust but the workers did not. As a result, locals blocked the road.
The incident caused traffic jams for hours.
The provincial and district authorities sent over traffic policemen and traffic inspectors to the site to keep order.
At noon, after Mr. Le Van Mui, Chairman of Duc Pho district, made his excuses to local people and promised to put an end to the dust pollution, people agreed to dismantle obstacles on the road.
After that the road building firm watered the road to reduce dust.
