Activities of the event “Green Living Day” towards the World Environment Day this year not only help to improve health but also contribute to sustainable environmental protection, said a representative of the organizing committee.
“Green Living Day” took place in Hanoi on May 29. The event was launched by walking activity departing from Hanoi Tower- Hai Ba Trung, CDC Building- Le Dai Hanh and Thong Nhat Park to other streets in Hanoi like Hai Ba Trung, Ba Trieu, Tran Hung Dao, Quang Trung, Nguyen Du, To Hien Thanh, etc. and in the end, by gathering of people in Thong Nhat Park. More than 200 volunteers and Standard Chartered Bank’s employees experienced practical activities towards environmental protection such as cleaning, planting grass in the park, painting tree trunks with a lime water, etc.
Mr. Tran Xuan Viet, Chairman of Go Green Club- Green Journey, shared his view that “Green Living Day” is an event in response to the World Environment Day. Besides, it is also a good message sent to all people that environmental protection always starts from the simplest things. “The event’s activities not only improve health but also contribute to sustainable environmental protection”, Mr. Viet added, “Live greenly each day for your own health and the future of the next generations.”
Ms. Ngo Thi Xuan Huong, a Standard Chartered Bank’s employee, said this was the fourth time she had participated in environmental protection activities. “Environmental protection must be done from the top down because if some people are aware of environmental protection, while others are not, this would make the environment still dirty”, she added, “However, concrete actions will draw people’s participation in environmental protection.”
After participating in some activities like cleaning, painting and planting grass, people are involved in drawing about environmental topics, playing games or supplying green living notebooks, etc.
