Prior to the ministerial meeting, the Hanoi Urban Environment Company and Hitachi Zosen of Japan signed the implementation document of the project on processing and turning urban waste into electricity in Nam son, Soc Son district of Hanoi. MONRE deputy minister Bui Cach Tuyen, the Japanese Minister Yukio Edano and Hanoi government’s representatives witnessed the signing. The project will be carried out between 2012 to 2014 with an incinerator able of burning 75 tons of waste per day. The heat will be recovered to produce power.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Japanese minister said Japan has committed to help Vietnam become an industrialized country.
The waste processing project is part of this commitment. He said Japan will continue supporting Vietnam in maintaining the clean environment. MONRE deputy minister Bui Cach Tuyen said the project represents Vietnam commitment to sustainable development.
