In April & May, riding bicycles to preserve environment and collecting garbage will be taken place in seven major parks of three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong. These activities aim to raise people’s awareness on climate change & urban waste and concern about their surrounding environment.
The program holding by Parkson Vietnam is listed in a series of activities themed “Change the world by green lifestyle towards a green environment and a healthy civilized community.
The central point of the program is a cycling event for environment in Ho Chi Minh City on May 7 with nearly 500 participants and collecting garbage in five parks. On this occasion, the organizer will hand over to the parks new recycle bins and give them the grant worth 350 million VND for cleaning up the parks within one year.
To encourage “green” lifestyle, a “Green Fashion” contest in designs inspired from the environment and using materials suitable for the theme will be held for all who pay their attention to the environment.
During this time, all 7 trade centers under the Parkson system in three big cities will respond to the program on electricity saving by reducing lighting and using advertising lamps. In addition, trade centers promote using environmentally friendly bags to serve customers.
At the peak of dry season this year, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation has coordinated with the City's Women’s Union and Energy Saving Center to continue in organizing the program “Families save electricity” and mobilize households to use power economically across the city.
Households will be eligible for awards if the saving rate of April, May and June 2011 is not lower than 10% compared to that time of the last year. The program will give out 10,240 prizes with the total value of 2.12 billion VND.
