A workshop on community-based Climate Change adaptation on 10/12/2010 in Hanoi

Under the project "Capacity building on Climate Change for civil society organizations", on 10/12/2010, the two networks VNGO&CC and CCWG co-organized successfully a workshop on community-based Climate Change adaptation in order to share effective models on CC adaptation, then strategies and plans will be formed in response to Climate Change.

 

 
 

The participants were the representatives from non-governmental organizations of 2 organizations VNGO&CC and CCWG, the representatives from donors such as AusAid, Embassy of Norway, UNDP in Vietnam, DANIDA and European Commission's office in Hanoi and media.

The discussion at the workshop focused on the topics: The differences between CC adaptation projects with other development projects; Sharing experiences in integrating CC adaptation into Socio-economic development plans and the solutions for existing challenges. The participants also worked on the solutions and recommendations to overcome the difficulties, focusing on promoting the cooperation among governmental and non-governmental organizations, researchers and local communities; policy advocacy as well as capacity building.

The workshop was also an opportunity for local and international NGOs to meet and talk with potential donors on Climate Change issue in Vietnam. The representatives of donors highly appreciated the experience and the lessons learned from the workshop in Vietnam, as well as expressed their concerns for related issues on CC mitigation and adaptation.

The information and results of the workshop will be sent to the workshop on CC adaptation at international level which will be held in March, 2011 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
