The official request has been sent to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Environment Agency for consideration and funding the support.
The proposal is assessed as urgent need to be implemented immediately in 2012 for local people's health and environmental improvement of the Island District, and also as an important part in protecting coral reefs, algae, other aquatic species inhabiting along the island to target Ly Son Island a Marine Conservation as approved by the Prime Minister.
Currently, islanders’ lives have been affected by environmental pollution caused by household waste in the area becomes serious, moreover visitors to Ly Son island are increasing and the amount of waste is increasing more than ever.
It is reported that there are about 20 to 30 tons of household waste to be collected daily.
