(VACNE) - On January 10, 2025, the People's Committee of Ben Tre City solemnly held a ceremony to announce and award the certificate of recognition of the Thien Tue tree at Phu Nhuan communal house (Phu Nhuan commune, Ben Tre city) as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree.

The Thien Tue tree is 6m high, 6m wide, with a circumference of more than 4m, and is determined to be about 200 years old. According to the elders, the tree was present in the communal house before the first restoration in 1911, when it was over 100 years old. In particular, the tree grows green, free of pests and diseases, and blooms every year in Spring, adding more sacredness to Phu Nhuan communal house – a provincial historical relic.

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Cong Thuan, representative of the Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection, emphasized: "The Thien Tue tree is not only a symbol of natural beauty but also has a profound meaning in Vietnamese culture, symbolizing longevity,  prosperity and good fortune."
