Thanh Hoa launches tour to Dong Son ancient village

Visitors to Dong Son ancient village will have a chance to learn more about the archaeology, countryside, culture, history and architeture of Vietnam.

 

Thanh Hoa province's authorities on March 2 held a ceremony to launch a tour to Dong Son ancient village – one of the most 10 beautiful ancient villages in Vietnam, located at Ham Rong ward, Thanh Hoa city, Thanh Hoa province and near Ma River.

Visitors to Dong Son ancient village will have a chance to learn more about the archaeology, countryside, culture, history and architeture of Vietnam.

Accordingly, visitors will have an opportunity to learn and experience Dong Son culture, visit the national relic of the Le Uy – Tran Khat Cham temple, Dong Son archaeological relics, a relic of Dong Son pagoda, an over 200-year-old ancient house of Luong Trong Due’s family, the Ancient Village’s four hamlets, namely Nhan, Nghia, Tri, and Dung.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Thi Hai Yen said that the tour will help Thanh Hoa to preserve and promote cultural values, as well as effectively exploit tourism potential, and create typical tourism products of Thanh Hoa city. Dong Son ancient village is expected to become an attractive cultural tourist destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

On this occasion, the localgovernment Thanh announced Ham Rong Cultural and Historical Site as a provincial-level relic site and Dong Son archaeological relics as a tourism site.

In 2018, Thanh Hoa province welcomed over 8 million visitors, a 17.8% increase against 2017. Of the total visitors, 230,000 were foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 21.8%, according to Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In 2018, Thanh Hoa’s tourism revenue was estimated at VND10.6 trillion (US$456 million).
