Russian woman collects litter on Phu Quoc beach

31 March 2021 | 08:06:00 AM

A Russian woman and some of her friends collected litter on a beach in Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang.

Sonya Firsova, 27, said that she was really impressed by the beauty of Phu Quoc when she visited two years ago. However, when she returned to the island recently, she was shocked by the rubbish, particularly plastic waste.

She could only collect a small amount of litter on Phu Quoc beaches, but the intention was clear. Many people, including foreigners, have also participated in litter collection along with Firsova.

The Russian woman has called on her friends to help.

Two years ago when visiting Malaysia, she and her sister spent a day gathering rubbish on a local beach. After that local authorities sent a task force for the beach cleanup.

She has often done this in the tourist sites that she visits. She hoped that authorities need to take drastic measures to deal with litter.

Currently, Firsova is a singer and actress in Hanoi and HCM City.

She has travelled extensively since she was small. Until now, she herself has come to 19 countries. She often records her trips through Vlogs.

Because of the love for Vietnam, she has decided to stay in the country to work and live for a long time.
