This is a worthy reward for the Council, also for the tireless efforts of VACNE and the community throughout the country in the event to preserve the Vietnam Heritage Tree which was launched in 2010. In the past 10 years, the Council has recognized over 5,000 ancient trees of 130 species in 54 provinces / cities as Vietnam Heritage Trees. The event of preserving the Heritage Tree, according to many people, has become a broad and meaningful mass movement for environmental protection, building an advanced cultural lifestyle, contributing to creating sustainable livelihoods  and improve community living standards.

This year's Environment Award was honored by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha.
