Attending this solemn ceremony were leaders of Quang Tri province: Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Huu Dan, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Ambassador Vu Van Dau, Director of the Provincial Police and leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Home Affairs, the Provincial Border Guard Command, leaders of Con Co island district and local people's representatives.

ASS. TS. Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council, on behalf of the Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection, attended and together with the leaders of Quang Tri province awarded the Certificate and decided to recognize the Vietnam Heritage Tree to the leaders of Con Co district.

Con Co Island, a heroic island district, at the head of the waves, the frontier and sacred land of the Fatherland of Vietnam. Con Co has entered the history of the nation in the resistance war against the US to save the country as a shining symbol of Vietnamese revolutionary heroism and has been awarded the noble title of Hero of the Armed Forces by the State twice, and was praised by Uncle Ho three times.

Mr. Vo Viet Cuong, Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Co island district said: This is the pride and honor of Con Co island district and Quang Tri province as well as the whole country. Because the "carpenters" here are living creatures, the "living milestones" witnessed the majestic events that took place during the war period, on many tree trunks there are still wounds from bombs and bullets, near the tree stumps there are bomb craters that time has not been able to erase, as if recounting the majestic historical stories of the nation; especially those are the "living milestones" affirming the sovereignty of the sea and islands and the sacred airspace of the Fatherland. Up to now, these "carpenters" have been recognized as heritage trees of Vietnam that are still eternal, grow well, and provide shade to people, officers and soldiers on the island and tourists visiting the island; These are the highlights for ecotourism on the island; these are also mother trees that provide seeds for planting green forests to protect the ecological environment for Con Co and islands in the sea of Vietnam.

The ceremony took place in a solemn and cozy atmosphere. Before the ceremony, the delegates visited Uncle Ho's temple and offered incense at the monument to the heroes and martyrs.
