The first ancient tree of the southern region to be honored as a Vietnam Heritage Tree in 2024

(VACNE) - These are two banyan trees in Tan Hung pagoda, Chau Hung commune, Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province that have just been solemnly organized by the community to welcome the recognition of Vietnamese Heritage Trees on January 27, 2024.
Attending the ceremony and sharing joy with the people of Chau Hung commune there were Associate Professor, Dr. Phung Chi Sy, Vice President of VACNE; Ms. Tran Thi Kieu Ton, Deputy Director of Ben Tre Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Tran Cong Language, former Permanent Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee – who proposed the idea of building a Heritage Tree Profile for Tan Hung Banyan Tree and Huynh Tan Phat Architect Temple; Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Chairman of Ben Tre Cultural Heritage Association; Ms. Huynh Xuan Thao, youngest child of Architect Huynh Tan Phat and grandchildren in the family and numerous representatives of leaders of the Culture and Information Office of Binh Dai district, the government unions of Chau Hung commune, Tan Hung hamlet and the people in the commune.
At the ceremony, on behalf of VACNE, Associate Professor Phung Chi Sy respectfully awarded the Certificate of Recognition of Vietnam Heritage Tree to two banyan trees in Tan Hung pagoda.
This is an important event, a great good news right in the first days of the New Year 2024 and preparing to celebrate Tet Giap Thin of the people of Architect Huynh Tan Phat's hometown. Tan Hung banyan tree is the first Vietnamese Heritage tree of Binh Dai district, the 5th Vietnamese Heritage tree of Ben Tre province.

The fact that Tan Hung banyan tree is recognized as a Vietnamese heritage tree will create the effect of connecting satellite relics of Huynh Tan Phat Memorial Area into a complex of relics and become 1 historical-cultural and ecological education tourism destination according to the research results of the research program "Conservation of Ben Tre relics under the shade of Vietnamese Heritage trees" by Dr. Pham Van Luan, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture has mentored the school's student group and Ben Tre Young Creative team since 2022.
