Surveying models of rice straw utilization in Chau Thanh district

(Baoangiang) - A delegation of experts from the Global Alliance for Health and Pollution (GAHP) and the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and the Environment (VACNE) surveyed the models of rice straw utilization by farmers in Chau district. Thanh (An Giang province).

Survey on the organic fertilizer production model of Mr. Le Ba Duong (Can Dang commune).

 

Through the survey, experts also propagated and mobilized farmers to take advantage of rice straw to develop economic models instead of burning it as before, in order to contribute to improving income and living standards for people. At the same time, reducing environmental pollution, caused by burning straw, as well as preventing organic poisoning caused by rice straw, reducing the amount of fertilizers and pesticides for rice plants...

This is an activity under the project "Evaluating the current status and proposing solutions to minimize the impact of open burning and the use of pesticides in agricultural activities in Vietnam", organized by the Association for Conservation of Nature. Vietnam Nature and Environment, through GAHP, with funding from the UK Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFRA).
