International visitors are hiring small wooden boats to weave through narrow canals in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, seeking a slower, more intimate glimpse of Lunar New Year traditions.
Can Tho has lined up cultural and artistic events for Tet, including New Year celebrations, don ca tai tu performances at Cai Rang floating market and regular shows at Ninh Kieu Wharf, sustaining the festive mood throughout the holiday period.
Tourism officials expect Tet 2026 arrivals to rise 10-15 per cent year-on-year. The city targets 12.3 million visitors in 2026, up more than 10 per cent from 2025, fuelled by demand for short breaks, family trips and culturally distinctive, accessible destinations.
