(VACNE) - On 19/4/2016, experts from VACNE, together with Dr. Paul Barber (from Australia) , and Ass. Dr. Pham Quang Thu member of the Viet Nam Heritage Tree Council ) have advised how to care for and treat three mango trees at Temple Soc, Tao Xuan Ward, in the North Tu Liem District of Hanoi.
Assoc.Prof.Dr Paul Barber informed the Management Board of the Soc Temple on immediate measures to treat the trees affected. These measures include the dismantling of concrete piles and adjustments of sidewalks around the trunk to extend its growing and living space , the removal of mold growing on the trees and parasitic plants, the cutting of diseased branches, and the continuos monitoring of plant diseases.Dr.Barber also collected root samples from the trees to analyzeand devise an appropriate treatment plan accordingly.
Dr. Pham Quang Thu will also support the localities in removing the mold affecting the trees and pruning the infected branches to remove pests, so as to ensure the trees remain healthy.
The member staff of the Management Board of the Soc Temple and Xuan Tao Ward were touched by the concern of experts. Moreover, the Nature Protection Association and Environment Vietnam are also determined to take care of and protect the Heritage trees of Vietnam as best as possible, according to the scientists’ process and their given instructions.
