The submission of related documents to the Viet Nam Heritage Tree Council is in progress.  The tree’s documents have been made by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, along with the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.  The tree measures 10m in circumference, and its 26 eye-catching rootlets are each 25m high.
The Board’s Deputy Head, Mr Phan Xuan Tiep, said that experts from the Council are expected to inspect and accurately measure the age of the unique tree.
He also said that the recognition will help to promote environmental protection and ensure biodiversity, as well as attract more visitors to this beautiful peninsula.  Local relevant agencies are taking effective measures to take newly-cleft rootlets out of the downward slope of the road, as well as remove lethal agents which might damage the roots and hinder the growth of the tree.
