Workshop "Care and Protection Vietnam heritage trees"

(VACNE) - On 3/7, in Phu Tho Province, Viet Nam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment Vietnam (VACNE) in collaboration with the Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of Phu Tho province, Secondary School Vũ Thê Lang organized workshop "Care and Protection Vietnam heritage trees"

Dr. Bui Phuc Khanh, chairman Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment of  Phu Tho province, said many great trees termite, mistletoe overwhelmed and delivery systems to malfunction nutrients due to many reasons (with concrete,  transport, land degraded) leads to dry branches, slowly dying, the ability to grow fragile, typically is the 2100 years Tau plant in   Thiên Cổ temple.

 
 
 
 







 


Vietnamese experts and Dr. Paul Barber experts plant pathologist from Australia find out  the reason why the branches of 2100 year old Tau tree are drying slowly and dying



After about an hour of direct "examination" for the plant, Dr. Paul Barber launched initially comments drying out branches tops by a fungus and insects .

 

"This is the first time I encountered cases of dry leaves on the trees Tau," Dr. Paul said, "But this disease happens to other species, I usually have it."

 

According to scientists, causes damage by nearly 10 years ago, court, land leveling override roots. Nearly a main cause weakened trees.


Distinguished teacher Vũ Văn Viết,  the principal of Secondary School, said Táu trees particularly are valuable, "our headaches for years do not know how to preserve the plants grow, and cure for stabbing trees protruded buds bouncing back as ten years ago, hundreds of years. I want scientists to contribute wisdom, by all means find a way to preserve the heritage trees, especially the conservation of heritage trees in Phu Tho province. "

Concluding the workshop, Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Sinh, VACNE President, has launched five measures: firstly at the expensive demolition stone, concrete and are on top of the roots, cut off dead branches and twigs of mistletoe; move traffic more far away  the tree; established track records of tree health and tree periodic monitoring, pest by the scientists reviewing pest situation.

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh also offers 3 complementary solutions: assigning and training specialized person; mobilizing funds for research and treatment plants, and propose authorities to facilitate the conservation of the tree.
