The Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) under Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment said it has successfully built 5 models to respond to climate change in Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh Province, the place with high biodiversity (with Xuan Thuy National Park – The heart of the Biosphere Reserve of Red River Delta).

Households who partcipate in these models will have an opportunity to raise awareness, build capacity and make plans on climate change adaptation in order to protect coastal ecosystems and develop local livelihoods in the context of climate change. To develop livelihoods, a  sustainable oyster raising cooperative was established in line with the general planning and standard technical procedures with environmental quality testing and weather forecast equipment. After three years of implementation, results show that its oysters can grow faster and are better at resisting to environmental shocks than oysters raised by other households. The models are attracting many other housholds  who wish to applied and multiplicate them.
