A rare red-faced stump-tailed macaque weighing about 3.5 kilogrammes was found at a pagoda in Hue City and later handed over to authorities in line with wildlife protection regulations.

Local forest rangers said on April 15 they had taken custody of the macaque (Macaca arctoides), which is listed under Group IIB of protected species.
The animal was discovered within Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda complex in Kim Long Ward.
Monks at the pagoda alerted local authorities upon spotting the macaque.
Rangers then coordinated with ward officials to safely capture and transfer the animal for further handling in accordance with wildlife protection rules.
