Visitors to Quang Ninh are being offered free drinks and cha muc, the province’s signature grilled squid cake, when dining at local restaurants and hotels as part of a new tourism stimulus programme.
The initiative, launched by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was confirmed on September 25 by Nguyen The Hue, chairman of the Quang Ninh Tourism Association.
Each guest using services at participating restaurants and hotels will receive a complimentary beverage, either beer or soft drink, along with a serving of cha muc, a dish considered the culinary pride of Quang Ninh..
Hotels are also offering incentives: guests staying for three nights will receive a complimentary meal of equal value to their booking. Cruise services, another key strength of Quang Ninh, have expanded buffet menus from 25 to 45 dishes this year, while cutting prices by 10 to 20 per cent.
So far, 83 businesses have joined the programme, including 16 four and five-star hotels, 26 cruise operators, as well as restaurants and service providers.
The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh, home to the UNESCO World Heritage site Ha Long Bay, aims to welcome at least 20 million visitors this year, with tourism numbers showing steady growth.
