The Centre of Technology Application and Transfer, under the General Department of Environment, Ministry of Resources and Environment, has successfully installed and tested a project to convert polluted water to fresh water for local people’s daily lives on Ly Son Island District, Quang Ngai Province.

A system, including a tank with capacity of 500 litres, four Carocell panels and a pipeline, was installed at An Vinh Primary School 1 in Ly Son. As water is distilled by heat radiation at temperature of 70-80 degrees Celsius, the project daily provides an average of 20 litres of drinking water.
Doan Quoc Ve, a staff member of the Centre, said that the system, treating water by using solar energy, converts water resources (such as sea water, salted water, alum water) to fresh water so that it can be used directly for daily activities.
The Centre is making a survey to install another system for local people living in areas of saline water or water shortage in Ly Son Island District in 2013.
