ENTEC Center belonging to VACNE establishes Project of Environmental Protection for Vietnam Vedan Company

According to VietnamNet, on January 23, 2009 Prime Minister requested leaders of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province to review earnestly about their responsibility for environmental protection over the country, lack of closely effective coordination between the Ministry and localities in dealing with Vedan Company for its violations on environment law.
To carry out the decision of MONRE after the violation from Vedan Company, under the agreement of Department of dealing with Natural Resources and Environment of Dong Nai Province (Dong Nai DONRE), Vedan is coordinating with ENTEC (belonging to MONRE) to establish Project of Environmental Protection under Circular 04/2008/TT-BTNMT on 18/09/2008 issued by MONRE. The project includes articles to raise the output of Soda-Acid Workshop from 3,116 tons/month to 6,600 tons/month, and capacity of Vedan Factory from 5,000 to 15,000 tons of sodium glutamate/month; from 2,000 to 4,000 tons of starch/month; from 1,200 to 1,400 tons of Lysine/month. Some workshops that have been operated without submitting reports of environmental impact produce up to 80 tons of high-grade seasoning powder/month, 700 tons of PGA/year, 70,000 tons of solid Vedagro fertilizer/year (solid) and 280,000 tons of liquid Vedagro fertilizer/year (liquid), 12,000 tons (wharf no. 1 & 2); report and appraise the environmental impacts to invest more equipment including 4 production lines with capacity of 140,000 tons of Vedagro/years, and 2 waste-water draining systems with capacity of 2,500 m3/day-night. Besides, Vedan Company have coordinated with some consultancy units to install and operate automatic survey equipment for measuring heat, pH, color, SS, BOD, COD.
