Bac Ninh approves USD58-million waste-to-power project

The northern province of Bac Ninh has approved a USD58 million waste-to-energy project.




 
 

An overview of the waste-to-energy plant

 

The plant is among memorandum of understandings signed during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s recent visit to Japan. 

 

The project has a total investment of USD58 million, including USD18 million funded by the Japanese Ministry of Environment, USD30 million being a loan from the International Financial Corporation and the remainder being the reciprocal capital from the investor T&J Green Energy Ltd. Co.

The plant has a daily waste treatment capacity of 500 tonnes, generating a total of 11.6 MWh of electricity.

Located in Thuan Thanh District, the plant is scheduled to be kicked off in January next year and finished in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Under Bac Ninh’s general plan on environmental protection in the 2019-2025 period, Bac Ninh will have three waste-to-power projects in Que Vo, Thuan Thanh and Luong Tai districts.

A high-tech waste-to-power plant worth USD57.6 million has also been built in Que Vo District.
