Recently, Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) has organized a research team to investigate and assess state of water resources and mineral exploitation and environment protection in the Ba Vi National Park buffer zone. Together with this activity, a workshop to get comments from experts and communities on this issue was held in the locality.

This activity aims at implementing the task of "Assessment of state and proposal on measures of Ba Vi National Park environment protection" which has been given to VACNE by Vietnam Union of Scientific and Technological Associations (VUSTA).

The President of VACNE Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh and VACNE's experts had a number of working meetings with representatives of Ba Vi District People's Committee, Ba Vi National Park, some companies operating in the locality, and some local resident communities. At the meeting, some urgent issues like impact of tourism and entertainment services on buffer and core zones of Ba Vi National Park, impact of road and Central Temple relic area building on landscape of the core zone of Ba Vi National Park, especially, environmentally sensitive issues such as impact of asbestos exploitation in Quyt Village, pyrite mining in Minh Quang Commune, gold mining in Dong Xo, limestone exploitation in Che Mountain, and building Dong Xo dam were discussed.
Beside meetings, the VACNE delegation also visited some environmentally "hot" spots. Below are images from the field investigation of some environmentally sensitive activities in the Ba Vi National Park:
