(VNA, News) : Scale up of dioxin detoxification by the microorganism method of Korea in A Luoi - Thua Thien Hue

(VACNE) - On February 28, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has worked with BJC Korea, a partner of the VACNE, on the results of dioxin-contaminated testing in the post-war soil at A Sho Airport, A Luoi District (Thua Thien Hue) in 2017.

 


Also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (KBIZ); Korea Institute of Oceanic Science and Technology (KIOST); VACNE; Leaders of relevant units of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

 

Most of the opinions expressed at this meeting highly appreciated the results of the experiment, the enthusiasm of the experts, as well as the humanitarian significance of the US post-war dioxin remediation testing of Korean scientists. Especially, BJC has deployed at A Sho airport, A Luoi district - one of the heavily contaminated areas of toxic chemicals and mines in Central Vietnam. Moreover, the problem of handling Agent Orange / Dioxin is not easy and microbial treatment method is also new technology. 

 

Concluded the meeting, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Vo Tuan Nhan highly appreciated the results of dioxin decontamination test by microbiological methods of Korea, agreed to expand the scale in A Luoi; proposed in the coming time, Korea should continue to coordinate with Vietnam in experimental decontamination, including the airport area A Sho, A Luoi district.

 

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has assigned the General Department of Environment and the VACNE and BJC to discuss a detailed plan for implementation at A Luoi on a larger scale. The project is to renovate the land environment. This is also the wish of the people here, to soon stabilize life, economic development towards sustainable.
