UNESCO adds Van Long-Tam Chuc to tentative World Heritage list

06 May 2026 | 07:23:00 AM

UNESCO has added Vietnam’s Van Long-Kim Bang-Tam Chuc cultural and ecological landscape to its tentative list for World Heritage status, marking a key step towards a formal nomination.

According to Ninh Binh’s tourism department, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO submitted the site’s dossier to the World Heritage Centre, which confirmed it met World Heritage Convention requirements.

The site has since been officially added to the tentative list.

The proposed heritage site, formally known as the Van Long-Kim Bang-Tam Chuc Delacour’s langur cultural and ecological landscape, features an integrated management approach aimed at preserving ecosystem integrity and key biological processes.

Authorities said the tentative listing marks an important strategic milestone in Vietnam’s roadmap towards seeking full UNESCO World Heritage inscription by 2028.

The nomination reflects Vietnam’s efforts to conserve natural landscapes and biodiversity while promoting sustainable tourism in line with UNESCO priorities.
