According to forestry officials, most of the animals released in this operation were voluntarily surrendered by members of the public. They were subsequently cared for and monitored to ensure they were healthy enough to survive before being returned to their natural habitat.
Nguyen Cong Bang of the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department said the latest release included 23 Burmese pythons.
From 2022 to early 2026, the department released more than 1,400 wild animals into protected areas across Vietnam, including the national parks of Cat Tien National Park, Bu Gia Map National Park, U Minh Thuong National Park, Chu Yang Sin National Park and Phuoc Binh National Park, as well as the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve and Lang Sen Wetland Reserve.
In addition, forest rangers transferred 48 animals to specialist conservation facilities for long-term care and protection.
